Andy Armitage has 40 years experience of teaching in schools, FE, Adult and Community Learning and HE.

He was, until July 2014, Head of Post-Compulsory Education and Training at Canterbury Christ Church University, which has among the largest FE ITE provision nationally with over 750 initial trainees and which was awarded Outstanding by Ofsted in March 2014.

In 2011-12 he was seconded to Ofsted to train as a team and lead inspector on ITE inspections and was then an Additional Inspector and Ofsted Inspector (OI). He is currently an Associate of the Education and Training Foundation.
